New Hat

So here is Francie at 14 months in her newest hat from Jannie. I bought the yarn in Red Bluff last January when we had an afternoon outing from the "Girls Craft Week-end". All the crafty girls converged at Claire and Tom's and spent the whole week-end knitting or talking about knitting. In attendance: Claire, Cathleen, Aunt Francie. Katherine, Margaret, Jane Flynn, Mary and me. It was so much fun and plans are in the works for a second annual get together.
Oh....and the pattern for this one is a combination of every other hat I have knit. In the round as usual but with a rib brim because the yarn was so chunky. So compare it all to the previous picture and see.....oh what a difference a year and a few months makes.

So here I go trying to produce my own first blog post!
I thought I should start at the very beginning of my "Francie knitting". Here she is just hours old in my rolled brim baby hat. A basic pattern but oh so cute framing that darling brand new face. Welcome to the world MaryFrances....and all the knits to follow.

Francie in Denim

These are the baby denim pants from "Last Minute Knitted Gifts" by Joelle Hoverson. GREAT pattern and very cute on Francie. I knit these in the car this summer while John and I were on a road trip to Chicago, our second time to drive a car out to Ann. The pattern called for knitting the legs on double pointed needles but in Jackson Hole, Wyoming I found small, 12", Addi Turbo circulars. I loved having a pattern I could do all with circulars, especially in the car-no needles to drop! I have already started a second pair in the darkest Rowan denim.

And the back view....good job Francie!

Garter Stitch Sweater #2

This is the simple little garter stitch sweater I knit for Francie in pink first and now in white ...1 size up. Mary is so good to dress Francie in all her "JanKnits" that I just keep knitting. I loved this pattern from Erika Knight's "Simple Knits for Cherished Babies". Love the title of the book too. It's a sweet little sweater with a cute fit.

Crossover jacket

Jannie just finished this Crossover Jacket from Debbie Bliss "Simply Baby." The pattern calls Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran and a gauge of 24 sts and 24 rows to 4in square over rib using size 8 needles. Jannie had her own creative touch with a smaller size yarn on the rims and doubled the stitches for a thicker look (in pink). It fits Francie perfectly and looks so cute!

The book's version with blue trim and a suede blue tie

JanKnit's Latest... The Baby Bib

The "Francie" Bib is Jannie's latest signature knitting project. The two-tone look was accidentally stumbled upon when she ran out of blue yarn on the first bib... we like it Jannie!

The pattern is adapted from the "Baby-Bib-o-Love" from Mason Dixon knitting. These were made using Debbie Bliss Denim and Organic Natural cotton, Sugar-and-Cream pink and a cream scrap of yarn.

Keep Knitting Jannie! (she will learn to blog herself eventually)
